About Islamabad Car Mechanic

Islamabad Car Mechanic is a car repair service working across Islamabad and Rawalpindi. We send a technician to where the car is, or bring the car to a workshop when the job needs one. Every job starts with a diagnosis, and no work begins until you have been told what is wrong and what it costs.

What we actually do

Repair, servicing and diagnosis for ordinary cars, done in the two places that make sense for them.

Most car trouble is not exotic. It is a battery that will not hold charge in December, a suspension knock over speed breakers, an air conditioner that stopped being cold in May, a warning light nobody can explain. Those jobs make up the bulk of the work, and they are the jobs this business is built to handle quickly and without drama.

The larger work sits behind it: engine and gearbox repair, clutch replacement, electrical faults that need proper tracing, denting and painting. That work goes to a workshop because it needs a lift, a press, a bench or a spray booth, and pretending otherwise produces a bad repair.

We also source parts, including for cars old enough that the dealer network has lost interest in them. Finding the part is often the harder half of an older repair.

At your location

Home, office or the roadside. The technician arrives with the tools and, where we can predict it from what you described, the parts.

In a workshop

For the jobs that need equipment. We arrange the move if the car is not safe to drive, rather than asking you to risk it.

Diagnosis before quote

The single rule that everything else on this page follows from.

Ask five workshops what a noise will cost to fix and you will get five numbers, none of which can be right, because none of them has heard the noise. The number that gets quoted is usually the one that wins the job, and the difference gets recovered later once the car is on the ramp and the customer has run out of options.

We do it the other way around. A technician inspects the car and finds the actual fault. Then you get a price for parts and labour, broken into its pieces, and you decide. If the answer is no, the answer is no, and the car goes home.

This is slower to sell and much easier to live with. It is also the reason we can put the rest of it in writing: the price is agreed before work starts, extra faults mean another conversation, and you can ask for the old parts back.

How a job runs

The same sequence whether we come to you or the car comes to us.

  1. You describe the symptom

What you hear, feel or smell, and when it happens. You do not need to know the cause.

  2. A technician inspects it

At your location where the job allows, otherwise at the nearest workshop with the right equipment.

  3. You get a price and decide

Parts and labour, itemised, with the options explained. Nothing is taken apart before you agree.

  4. The work is done

Parts sourced for your exact vehicle. Ask and we return whatever we replaced.

Doorstep or workshop

An honest split, because some jobs genuinely cannot be done on a driveway.

We come to you

Oil and filter services, batteries, brake pads and discs, most electrical faults, scan-tool diagnostics, air conditioning checks, belts, hoses and anything that needs hand tools rather than a lift. The advantage is obvious: the car stays where it is and you keep your day.

The car comes to us

Engine internals and overhauls, gearbox and clutch work, suspension components that need a press, wheel alignment, exhaust welding, and all denting and painting. A spray job done in the open air is a spray job you will be redoing.

If you are not sure which side your job falls on, describe it and we will tell you before anything is booked. Each service page says which it is too.

Where we stand on parts

Four grades, explained properly, so you can choose instead of being told.

More about parts
  • Genuine

Sold in the box of the company that built the car. The most expensive option and the one with the least argument attached. Usually worth it for safety parts and for anything on a car still under warranty.

  • OEM

Made by the same factory that supplies the manufacturer, sold under the supplier name instead of the car brand. The same part without the branding, and normally cheaper for it.

  • Aftermarket

Made by an independent manufacturer. Quality runs from excellent to unusable, which is why the brand matters more than the label. We fit the ones we have seen last, and we say which brand we are using.

  • Used

Pulled from another vehicle. For body panels, some interior trim, older electronics and parts that are no longer produced, this is often the only sensible route, and sometimes the only route at all.

The right grade depends on the car and on what you plan to do with it. Fitting a genuine part to a twenty-year-old hatchback that is worth less than the repair is not diligence, it is waste. What we will not do is fit the cheap one and let you believe it was the expensive one. You are told which grade is going in, and what each option would have cost.

What we will not do

Stated plainly, because a promise you can check is worth more than an adjective.

  • We do not quote blind

A price for a noise nobody has heard is a guess. If the guess is high you overpay, and if it is low someone has to renegotiate with your car already in pieces. We inspect first, every time.

  • We do not add work you did not approve

If a second fault turns up during a job, we stop and call you. You hear what we found, whether it can wait, and what it would cost. It becomes a new decision, not a larger invoice at the end.

  • We do not sell work the car does not need

A flush, a cleaner or a replacement that would change nothing gets left out of the quote. Telling you a part has life left in it costs us money today and keeps the car here next year.

  • We do not take a job we cannot do properly

Some work needs equipment or a specialist we do not have. When that is the case we say so and point you at someone who does, rather than attempt it and learn on your vehicle.

How we work

Four things that happen on every job, which is why we can put them in writing.

  • Diagnosis before quote

We find the fault first. A price given over the phone for a noise nobody has heard is a guess.

  • The price is agreed first

You approve the work and the cost before a spanner is picked up. Extra work means another call.

  • Parts you can check

We tell you whether a part is genuine, OEM, aftermarket or used, and what each one costs.

  • Old parts returned

Ask and we will hand back whatever we replaced. It is the simplest proof that the job was done.

Questions people ask before booking

Tell us what the car is doing

Describe the symptom and where the car is. We will work out the rest, tell you what it will cost, and wait for you to say yes.
