Battery Replacement
Also called new battery
Battery replacement means removing the failed battery and fitting one that matches your car's required capacity and terminal layout, then confirming the charging system is working. The old battery is taken away for recycling. Replacement does not cure a faulty alternator or a hidden current drain, and if either of those caused the failure, the new battery will go flat as well, so the charging system is tested as part of the job.
Signs you need this
- Battery fails a load test or has dropped well below rated capacity
- Repeated jump-starts needed to get the car going
- Swollen or leaking battery case
- Starting takes longer every morning as the weather changes
- Electrical items reset or misbehave when the engine is cranked
Not all of these have to be present, and one of them on its own can mean something else entirely. That is what the diagnosis is for.
What the job includes
- Test of the old battery to confirm replacement is the right call
- New battery matched to the car's capacity, size and terminal position
- Terminal and clamp cleaning, with protective grease applied
- Secure mounting so the battery cannot move on rough roads
- Charging system check after fitting
- Removal of the old battery for recycling
How we do it
Confirm the diagnosis
The existing battery is load tested first so you are not replacing a healthy one because of a charging or drain fault.
Match the replacement
Capacity, physical size and terminal layout are matched to the car so the fit and starting performance are correct.
Fit and secure
Terminals are cleaned, the new battery is clamped down properly, and connections are protected against corrosion.
Verify the charging
The alternator output is measured with the engine running to confirm the new battery will be kept charged.
How we work
The same on every job, which is why we can write it down.
Diagnosis before quote
We find the fault first. A price given over the phone for a noise nobody has heard is a guess.
The price is agreed first
You approve the work and the cost before a spanner is picked up. Extra work means another call.
Parts you can check
We tell you whether a part is genuine, OEM, aftermarket or used, and what each one costs.
Old parts returned
Ask and we will hand back whatever we replaced. It is the simplest proof that the job was done.
Book battery replacement
Fill this in and a person will call you back to confirm the time and the price. Only your name and one way to reach you are required.
You send this
Takes a minute. No payment, no obligation.
We call you
To confirm the car, the time and the location.
Tell us the car and the symptom
We will arrange a mechanic at your location, or a slot at the nearest workshop. No payment until the price is agreed.
