Also called engine work
Engine repair is the work that follows a confirmed diagnosis: replacing the specific gasket, seal, sensor, tensioner, pump or component that has failed, rather than opening the whole engine. It suits faults with a defined cause, such as an oil leak from the rocker cover, a noisy tensioner or a damaged intake. If testing shows worn bores, damaged bearings or a cracked head, that is overhaul or cylinder head work, and we will say so instead of patching around it.
Signs you need this
- A diagnosis has identified a specific failed engine component
- Oil or coolant leaking from a known joint on the engine
- A noise traced to one accessory, tensioner or pulley
- A warning light returning after a part was replaced elsewhere
- Rough running traced to a mechanical rather than electronic cause
Not all of these have to be present, and one of them on its own can mean something else entirely. That is what the diagnosis is for.
What the job includes
- Confirmation of the diagnosis before any part is removed
- Removal and replacement of the failed component with the correct part
- New gaskets, seals and fasteners where the maker specifies single use
- All bolts torqued to specification in the correct sequence
- Fluids replaced or topped as the job requires, and the system bled
- Road test and a leak and noise check before hand-over
How we do it
Confirm before opening
The diagnosis is rechecked so the part coming off is the part actually at fault, not the one most easily blamed.
Agree scope and cost
You are told what will be replaced, what might be found underneath, and what each outcome would cost.
Carry out the repair
The component is replaced with correct gaskets and seals, sealing faces cleaned, and fasteners torqued to specification.
Refill and run up
Fluids are restored, the engine is run to temperature and checked for leaks, noise and correct operation.
Road test and report
A drive confirms the original symptom is gone, and you are told anything else noticed during the work.
