Exhaust Leak Repair
Also called exhaust joint or gasket leak repair
An exhaust leak is gas escaping before it reaches the tailpipe, usually at a flange joint, a gasket or a corroded seam. Small leaks hiss and puff, larger ones roar and can push fumes into the cabin. The repair replaces gaskets, renews bolts and clamps, or welds a split seam. It is separate from replacing a whole silencer or manifold, and it will not resolve fume smells caused by a worn door seal or a fuel leak.
What the job includes
- Pressurising or smoke testing the system to find every leak point
- Replacing flange gaskets, nuts, bolts and spring assemblies
- Welding split seams where the surrounding metal is still sound
- Checking hangers so joints are not pulled apart by a sagging pipe
- Confirming no exhaust smell reaches the cabin after repair

How we do it
Find every leak
Smoke or pressure testing shows all leak points at once, rather than sealing one and leaving the next undiscovered.
Judge what is repairable
We check whether the surrounding metal will hold a weld or gasket, and tell you when a section needs replacing instead.
Seal the joints
Gaskets, bolts and springs are renewed and seams welded, with hangers corrected so the line sits without strain.
Retest and road test
The system is retested with the engine warm, then driven to confirm no noise or smell returns under load.
