Also called AC fan not working
The blower is the fan inside the dashboard that pushes air through the vents for both cooling and heating. Worn bearings make it whine or rattle, dust jams the cage, and the resistor pack that controls fan speeds burns out so only the highest speed works. This job restores airflow. It does not make the air colder if the refrigerant side of the system is at fault.
Signs you need this
- Fan works only on the fastest speed
- Whining, ticking or rattling noise from behind the dashboard
- Airflow is weak even with the fan set to maximum
- Fan cuts out and returns as you go over bumps
- Burning smell from the vents when the fan is switched on
Not all of these have to be present, and one of them on its own can mean something else entirely. That is what the diagnosis is for.

How we do it
Test the controls
Fuse, switch, resistor and connector are tested first, because a burnt resistor is a common and inexpensive cause.
Access the motor
The blower is reached from the passenger footwell or glovebox area and removed with its housing inspected.
Clean or replace
A jammed cage is cleaned; a motor with worn bearings or a burnt winding is replaced rather than patched.
Check the airflow
All speeds and vent positions are tested, and the cabin filter is checked so airflow is not restricted again.
