Suspension noise is easy to hear and hard to place, because a knock from a stabilizer link sounds much like one from a strut mount or a worn bush. This inspection puts the car on a lift, loads each joint with a pry bar, and checks the parts one at a time to find the source. It is a diagnosis that names the worn parts and quotes the work; the repair is booked separately.

Not all of these have to be present, and one of them on its own can mean something else entirely. That is what the diagnosis is for.

The car is driven over the kind of surface where you hear the noise, noting speed and steering position.

On a lift, every bush, joint and link is levered under load so worn parts reveal their movement.
Rule out the rest
Wheel bearings, exhaust mounts, brake hardware and loose heat shields are checked before suspension parts are condemned.
