Also called air filter change
The air filter keeps dust and grit out of the engine. In Islamabad and Rawalpindi, with construction dust, unpaved shoulders and dry summers, filters fill up well before the interval printed in the manual. A blocked filter restricts airflow, which makes the engine feel flat and pushes fuel consumption up. Replacing it is quick and cheap. It will not fix a misfire, a sensor fault or a mechanical problem, and it will not help if the real restriction is in the exhaust.

- The filter element looks grey, matted or blocked with dust
- Black smoke or a rich smell from the exhaust on acceleration
- You drive regularly on dusty or unpaved roads
Not all of these have to be present, and one of them on its own can mean something else entirely. That is what the diagnosis is for.

- Removal of the airbox lid and inspection of the old element
- Airbox interior cleaned of dust, leaves and insect debris
- New filter of the correct size seated so it seals all round

How we do it
Open and inspect
The airbox is opened and the element is held to the light, which shows loading better than a surface glance does.
Clean the housing
Loose dust and debris are removed from the box so they cannot be drawn straight through the new filter.
Fit and seal
The new element is seated so the rubber lip contacts all round, and the lid clips are closed evenly.
Check intake path
We check the duct and connections for splits, since unfiltered air entering after the filter defeats the whole point.
