Hybrid Electrical Diagnosis
Also called hybrid electrical fault checking
Hybrid cars carry a high-voltage system alongside the normal twelve volt one, and faults can sit in either or in the link between them. This diagnosis traces isolation faults, sensor and wiring problems, converter and relay issues and the twelve volt supply that many hybrid warnings actually come from. It is fault finding, and the repair is quoted separately once the cause is known rather than parts being fitted on a guess.
Signs you need this
- Hybrid system warning with no obvious battery symptom
- Several unrelated warning lights appearing at once
- Car refusing to go into ready mode
- Electrical items behaving oddly before a hybrid warning appears
- Fault that comes and goes with heat or rough roads
Not all of these have to be present, and one of them on its own can mean something else entirely. That is what the diagnosis is for.
What the job includes
- Scan of hybrid, engine and body modules with stored and live data
- Testing of the twelve volt battery and its charging from the converter
- Insulation and isolation checks on the high-voltage circuit
- Inspection of connectors, earth points and wiring affected by heat and rodents
- A written explanation of the cause and what repair it will take
How we do it
Scan every control module
All modules are read, because hybrid warnings are frequently triggered by a fault somewhere else in the car.
Check the basics
The twelve volt battery, its charging and the main earth points are tested first, as these cause many hybrid faults.
Test the high-voltage side
Under isolation procedure we carry out insulation checks to find leakage paths that set isolation fault codes.
Trace the circuit
Connectors, looms and earths are inspected where heat, moisture or rodent damage is likely on these imported models.
Explain the cause
You get the finding in writing with the repair and its cost, separate from the diagnosis you have already paid for.
How we work
The same on every job, which is why we can write it down.
Diagnosis before quote
We find the fault first. A price given over the phone for a noise nobody has heard is a guess.
The price is agreed first
You approve the work and the cost before a spanner is picked up. Extra work means another call.
Parts you can check
We tell you whether a part is genuine, OEM, aftermarket or used, and what each one costs.
Old parts returned
Ask and we will hand back whatever we replaced. It is the simplest proof that the job was done.
Book hybrid electrical diagnosis
Fill this in and a person will call you back to confirm the time and the price. Only your name and one way to reach you are required.
You send this
Takes a minute. No payment, no obligation.
We call you
To confirm the car, the time and the location.
Tell us the car and the symptom
We will arrange a mechanic at your location, or a slot at the nearest workshop. No payment until the price is agreed.
