Periodic Maintenance Service
Also called full service
Periodic maintenance is the service your car is scheduled for by distance or time. It covers engine oil and filters, fluid levels and condition, brakes, tyres, belts, hoses, battery, lights and suspension, plus any item due at that specific interval. The point is to replace wearing items before they fail and to find problems while they are still small. It is planned work, not a repair service, so anything found faulty is quoted separately for your approval.
Signs you need this
- The service interval in kilometres or months has been reached
- The service reminder light on the dashboard has come on
- You are preparing the car for a long trip
- You want a maintenance record for resale
- The last service was skipped or you do not know when it was
Not all of these have to be present, and one of them on its own can mean something else entirely. That is what the diagnosis is for.
What the job includes
- Engine oil and oil filter replacement with the correct grade
- Air, cabin and fuel filters checked and replaced when due
- All fluid levels checked and topped: coolant, brake, clutch, steering, washer
- Brake pads, discs, tyre tread and pressures inspected and recorded
- Belts, hoses, mounts, battery, lights and suspension joints inspected
- Written record of what was done, what was found, and what is due next
How we do it
Check the schedule
We look up what is due for your model at this mileage, so you are not sold items belonging to a different interval.
Carry out the service
Oil, filters and any scheduled items are replaced, and all fluids are checked and topped to the correct level.
Inspect safety items
Brakes, tyres, steering, suspension and lights are inspected and measured, with figures written down rather than guessed.
Report and quote
Anything found faulty is listed with its urgency and a separate price, and nothing extra is done without your approval.
Road test and hand over
A final drive checks braking, steering and running, and you receive the written record with the next due interval.
How we work
The same on every job, which is why we can write it down.
Diagnosis before quote
We find the fault first. A price given over the phone for a noise nobody has heard is a guess.
The price is agreed first
You approve the work and the cost before a spanner is picked up. Extra work means another call.
Parts you can check
We tell you whether a part is genuine, OEM, aftermarket or used, and what each one costs.
Old parts returned
Ask and we will hand back whatever we replaced. It is the simplest proof that the job was done.
