A jump-start gets the engine running from an external power source when the battery is too flat to crank. It is a quick job, but it is only half the answer: a battery that went flat overnight is either worn out, not being charged by the alternator, or being drained by something left on. We test all three before leaving, so you are not stranded again the next morning in the same place.
Signs you need this
- Engine turns over slowly then clicks
- No dashboard lights or very dim lights
- Central locking and windows working weakly
- Car started fine yesterday and is dead this morning
- Battery warning light was on before the car stopped
Not all of these have to be present, and one of them on its own can mean something else entirely. That is what the diagnosis is for.

Dim lights and a slow crank point at the battery, while lights that stay bright point at the starter instead.

The jump pack is connected to the correct terminals and earth point, then the engine started without strain.

With the engine running we measure battery condition and charging voltage to see whether the alternator is doing its job.
