Fuel delivery brings enough petrol or diesel to your location to get the engine running and reach a filling station. It is a small amount to move you, not a full tank. Running completely dry can also draw dirt into the fuel system or strain the fuel pump on some cars, and diesel engines may need bleeding before they restart. We tell you if that is likely with your car before setting out.
Signs you need this
- Fuel gauge on empty and the engine has cut out
- Engine sputtering then stalling, restarting briefly and stalling again
- Car cranks normally but will not fire after the low fuel warning
- Low fuel light has been on for a long distance
- Loss of power climbing a slope with the tank near empty
