Fuel Filter Service
Also called fuel filter change
The fuel filter protects the injectors and the pump from rust, water and sediment, which matters here because fuel quality varies and tanks are often filled from cans during shortages. A blocked filter starves the engine under load and makes the pump work harder until it fails early. Replacement restores fuel flow. It does not clean injectors that are already fouled, or repair a pump that has already lost pressure.
What the job includes
- Location and safe depressurisation of the fuel system
- Filter replacement with new seals or clamps
- Inspection of the old filter contents for rust and water
- Fuel line and connector inspection for leaks and chafing
- In-tank strainer check where the filter sits inside the tank
- Leak check and road test after refitting

Not all of these have to be present, and one of them on its own can mean something else entirely. That is what the diagnosis is for.
How we do it
Depressurise the system
Fuel pressure is released safely before any line is opened, since the system holds pressure after switch-off.
Replace the filter
The filter is renewed with new seals or clamps and fitted the correct way round for flow direction.
Inspect what came out
The old filter is opened or drained so rust, water or sediment in your fuel supply can be seen.
Check and road test
The system is pressurised, joints are checked for leaks, and the car is driven under load.
