Fuel System

Fuel Line Repair

Also called petrol leak repair

Fuel lines run the length of the car underneath, where water, salt and road debris corrode metal pipes and age the rubber sections at each end. A petrol smell or a wet patch under the car is a fire risk and should not wait. This repair replaces the failed section with correct high-pressure fuel hose or pipe and proper fittings. Garden hose, clear tubing and jubilee clips on high-pressure lines are not acceptable.

Signs you need this

  • Petrol smell inside or around the car
  • Wet patch or drip under the car that smells of fuel
  • Fuel level dropping faster than the driving explains
  • Hard starting because the system will not hold pressure
  • Visible rust, flaking or damage on the fuel pipes underneath

Not all of these have to be present, and one of them on its own can mean something else entirely. That is what the diagnosis is for.

What the job includes

  • System depressurised and battery disconnected before work starts
  • Full inspection of lines from tank to engine on a lift
  • Replacement of corroded pipe sections and aged rubber hoses
  • Correct fuel-rated hose and factory-type connectors used
  • Secure clipping so lines do not chafe on the body or suspension
  • Pressure test and leak check before the car is returned

How we do it

  1. Make it safe

The system is depressurised, the battery is disconnected and the work area is kept clear of ignition sources.

  2. Inspect the full run

Lines are followed from tank to engine on a lift, because one visible leak often sits beside more corrosion.

  3. Replace the failed section

Failed sections are replaced with fuel-rated hose or pipe and correct fittings, never with general purpose tubing.

  4. Pressure test the system

The system is pressurised and every joint is checked dry before the car leaves the workshop.

How we work

The same on every job, which is why we can write it down.

  • Diagnosis before quote

We find the fault first. A price given over the phone for a noise nobody has heard is a guess.

  • The price is agreed first

You approve the work and the cost before a spanner is picked up. Extra work means another call.

  • Parts you can check

We tell you whether a part is genuine, OEM, aftermarket or used, and what each one costs.

  • Old parts returned

Ask and we will hand back whatever we replaced. It is the simplest proof that the job was done.
