Panel Repair
Also called body panel repair or replacement
Panel repair deals with damage too large or too sharp for simple dent work: a folded door skin, a torn wing, a bonnet with a deep crease. Depending on the damage the panel is straightened and refinished, or removed and replaced. Time depends entirely on what the strip-down reveals and on parts availability, so we give you a date after inspection. This is body work only, and does not include mechanical or suspension damage found underneath.
Signs you need this
- Panel folded, torn or creased beyond a simple dent
- Door or bonnet no longer closes or lines up
- Rust or splitting along a seam or edge
- Previous repair lifting, bubbling or showing a colour difference
- Water leaking into the cabin near the damaged area
Not all of these have to be present, and one of them on its own can mean something else entirely. That is what the diagnosis is for.
What the job includes
- Strip-down of trim, lights and fittings to see the full extent of damage
- A decision with you on repairing the existing panel or fitting a replacement
- Straightening, welding or panel replacement with correct gap alignment
- Primer, colour matched paint, lacquer and blending into adjacent panels
- Refitting trim and seals and checking the door or bonnet operates correctly
How we do it
Strip and assess
Trim and fittings come off so hidden damage behind the panel is found before any work or costing is agreed.
Agree the approach
We show you the damage and explain honestly whether repairing the original panel or replacing it gives the better result.
Repair or fit
The panel is straightened and prepared, or the replacement is fitted and aligned so gaps match the opposite side.
Prime, paint and blend
Primer, colour and lacquer are applied and blended, then cured before the panel is polished back to the car's gloss.
Reassemble and check
Trim, seals and lights are refitted, operation is tested, and we walk the finished panel with you in daylight.
How we work
The same on every job, which is why we can write it down.
Diagnosis before quote
We find the fault first. A price given over the phone for a noise nobody has heard is a guess.
The price is agreed first
You approve the work and the cost before a spanner is picked up. Extra work means another call.
Parts you can check
We tell you whether a part is genuine, OEM, aftermarket or used, and what each one costs.
Old parts returned
Ask and we will hand back whatever we replaced. It is the simplest proof that the job was done.
