Partial / Panel Paint
Also called one panel paint or touch-up paint
Partial paint refinishes a single door, wing, bonnet or bumper rather than the whole car. It is used after a dent repair, a bad scratch, or lacquer peeling on one panel. The colour is mixed to your car's paint code and blended into the neighbouring panels so no hard edge shows. On older, sun-faded cars a perfect match is not always possible, and we explain the likely result before spraying rather than after.
Signs you need this
- One panel visibly duller or a different shade after an old repair
- Lacquer peeling on the bonnet or roof only
- Scratches too deep to polish out
- Primer or bare metal showing after a scrape
- Rust spots starting at a stone chip
Not all of these have to be present, and one of them on its own can mean something else entirely. That is what the diagnosis is for.
What the job includes
- Reading the paint code and mixing to it, then checking on a test card
- Sanding and priming the panel so the surface is level before colour
- Masking and protecting glass, trim and adjacent panels
- Spraying base colour with blending into the neighbouring panels
- Lacquer, curing and polishing to match the gloss of the rest of the car
How we do it
Match the colour
Paint is mixed to the code on the car and sprayed on a test card, then compared against the panel in daylight.
Prepare the panel
The area is sanded, any low spots filled and primed, and the whole panel keyed so the new paint bonds.
Spray and blend
Colour is laid on the panel and faded out into the adjacent ones, so the transition is invisible rather than edged.
Lacquer and polish
Lacquer is applied over the blend, cured, then flatted and polished so gloss and texture match the original paint.
How we work
The same on every job, which is why we can write it down.
Diagnosis before quote
We find the fault first. A price given over the phone for a noise nobody has heard is a guess.
The price is agreed first
You approve the work and the cost before a spanner is picked up. Extra work means another call.
Parts you can check
We tell you whether a part is genuine, OEM, aftermarket or used, and what each one costs.
Old parts returned
Ask and we will hand back whatever we replaced. It is the simplest proof that the job was done.
