DCT Transmission Service
Also called dual clutch service
A dual clutch transmission uses two clutches and an automated gearbox, so it behaves like an automatic but wears like a manual. Common complaints are judder when pulling away, jerkiness in slow traffic and warning messages about transmission temperature. Service covers the specified fluid and filter, reading clutch wear and adaptation data, and resetting adaptations. Fluid and adaptation work will not restore clutches that are already worn out, and the data tells us which situation you are in.
Signs you need this
- Judder or shuddering when moving off from a standstill
- Jerky, uneven progress in slow stop-start traffic
- A transmission overheating or fault message on the dashboard
- Delay or a clunk when selecting drive or reverse
- The service interval for the transmission fluid has been reached
Not all of these have to be present, and one of them on its own can mean something else entirely. That is what the diagnosis is for.
What the job includes
- Transmission and clutch fault codes read, with clutch wear data recorded
- Fluid and filter replaced to the exact specification for your model
- Clutch and gear actuator adaptation carried out after the service
- Mechatronic unit and wiring checked for leaks and connector faults
- Road test in slow traffic where judder and jerkiness actually show
- Honest report if clutch wear figures show replacement is due
How we do it
Read wear data
Clutch wear and adaptation values are recorded first, because they show whether a service can help at all.
Confirm fluid specification
DCT units use a specific fluid, wet or dry depending on the design, and we verify it for your exact model.
Service the unit
Fluid and filter are replaced, the pan and magnets are cleaned, and the level is set to specification.
Reset the adaptations
Clutch touch points and gear actuator positions are relearned, since the transmission drives badly without this step.
Road test in traffic
A drive in real stop-start conditions confirms take-up is smooth, which a workshop test would not reveal.
How we work
The same on every job, which is why we can write it down.
Diagnosis before quote
We find the fault first. A price given over the phone for a noise nobody has heard is a guess.
The price is agreed first
You approve the work and the cost before a spanner is picked up. Extra work means another call.
Parts you can check
We tell you whether a part is genuine, OEM, aftermarket or used, and what each one costs.
Old parts returned
Ask and we will hand back whatever we replaced. It is the simplest proof that the job was done.
